Fishing in World of Warcraft Classic's Season of Mastery can be a highly effective way for players to increase wow classic sod gold reserves. At the time of writing, we are currently in Phase 2 and it is a good time to take advantage of this often overlooked profession. While it may not be the most exciting activity in Azeroth, its simplicity makes it possible to multitask and do other things while reeling in valuable resources.
↖ Starting Out
To get started with fishing you will first need to have the fishing skill. Alliance players can find trainers and suppliers in Stormwind, such as Arnold Leland and Catherine Leland. Catherine even sells the Strong Iron Fishing Pole occasionally, which gives +5 to your fishing skill and can be resold on the Auction House for a small profit. Make sure to always keep Shiny Baubles on hand as well, as they can be applied to your fishing rod for increased effectiveness.
↖ Leveling Up
While leveling up from 1–55, you will want to stay near vendors so that you can sell what you catch and restock shiny baubles when necessary. Combining fishing with cooking can also be very profitable if you buy recipes from vendors. By doing so, you'll level both skills at the same time. Once you reach level 50, make sure to upgrade to Journeyman Fishing and stock up on Nightcrawlers for increased effectiveness.
↖ Profitable Fishing Spots
Once your skill reaches 50, look for schools of fish or floating wreckage along coastlines. These spots offer reliable skill increases as well as many valuable items like Oily Blackmouths. For Alliance players Westfall and Horde players The Barrens are both recommended locations due to the long coastlines they have for their respective factions which are also relatively safe compared to contested places like Ratchet.
↖ Efficient Macro Usage
Consider creating macros that allow you to cast your line or apply bait or switch back to your weapon with a simple keystroke. There are also many addons that can make the Interface for fishing much more efficient and customizable. Bright Baubles and Aquadynamic Fish Attractors are some examples of bait that you should use as they will be more effective the higher your fishing skill is. You can buy these from vendors or the Auction House.
↖ Endgame Fishing
Once you reach a skill level of 120, it's time to return to your capital city, sell everything you caught, and decide if you want to buy a Big Iron Fishing Pole for increased effectiveness. You should now focus on fishing in Stranglethorn Vale where there is both Ironbound and Mithril Bound Trunks which float by occasionally while you fish. These contain valuable items like green items for disenchanting, 12-14 slot bags and even a chance at getting the Big Iron Fishing Pole.
↖ Final Tips
For Herbalism players make sure to keep an eye out for Stranglekelp and Liferoot along coastlines as they add additional income. Be aware of any potential players from the opposite faction that could attack you or high-level mobs in PvP realms. You could also consider using addons like GatherMate2 to track resource nodes
In conclusion, if you're willing to invest some time in it, fishing can be a very tranquil way to rake in that moola. By leveling up your skill while keeping an eye out for the most profitable spots.
