Diablo 4 Patch 1.1.4 XP Bonus: Urn of Aggression Help players Reach Level 100 Faster

Diablo 4 has had its fair share of ups and downs, and the release of Patch 1.1.4 was no exception. In this article, we'll delve into the recent controversy surrounding the XP bonus introduced in the patch, dissecting its effectiveness and implications for players. But before we get into the nitty-gritty, it's essential to address the current state of the Diablo 4 community, which seems to be in turmoil.

Community Dissatisfaction

It's no secret that Diablo 4 has faced its share of criticism and disappointment within the community. Many players have expressed their frustration and disillusionment, leading some to abandon the game entirely. The general sentiment seems to be that Diablo 4 is on life support, desperately needing an emergency campfire chat to revive interest. While these sentiments are understandable, let's shift our focus to the controversial Patch 1.1.4 and whether it can reignite players' enthusiasm.

Analyzing the XP Bonus

Patch 1.1.4 introduced an XP bonus to help players reach level 100 faster. However, as we dig deeper into the math, it becomes evident that this bonus might not be as game-changing as initially hoped.

The bonus comprises several components: the campfire bonus, the XP Elixir potion bonus, the Urn of Aggression bonus, and the XP from World Tier 4. These bonuses are additive, meaning they stack on top of each other. For example, if you have a World Tier 4 bonus, you get an additional 200% increased XP. But, as we'll see, the actual impact on levelling speed might not be as substantial as anticipated.

Let's look at the math using a standard monster that yields 1,000 XP. With a World Tier 4 bonus, this becomes 3,000 XP. Adding in the XP Diablo 4 Elixir (5% of the base amount), you gain an extra 50 XP, and the Urn of Aggression (20% of the base amount) contributes an additional 200 XP. Considering you already had an 8% bonus, you're left with 3,250 XP. The additional 120 XP you gained from the Patch 1.1.4 update equates to less than a 5% increase, which isn't a significant boost in the grand scheme of things.

The Timing Issue

Another critical aspect to consider is the timing of the Urn of Aggression's activation. This bonus doesn't become relevant until later in the game when players have invested enough smouldering ashes. Thus, early-game levelling won't see much benefit from it.

Conclusion

While Patch 1.1.4's XP bonus was intended to assist players in reaching level 100 faster, its impact appears underwhelming. A meagre 5% increase in experience gain, coupled with the late-game activation of the Urn of Aggression, means the bonus won't significantly alter your levelling journey. Diablo 4 may have its share of issues, but this particular update, while not entirely bad, doesn't address the core concerns of the player base.
