We're over a month into the season, and it's time to revisit our initial predictions, evaluating the current state of classes at level 25. let's see which classes excelled, which ones lagged behind, and my initial predictions versus the reality.
- Class Performance in Phase 1: Introduction
- Cloth Wearers: Priests and Mages
- Leather Wearers: Rogues and Druids
- Mail Wearers: Shamans and Hunters
- Plate Wearers: Paladins and Warriors
- The Dark Horse: Warlock
- Key Takeaways and Future Expectations
↖ Class Performance in Phase 1: Introduction
It is interesting for us as we go through this season of discovery to observe how things have ended up comparing with our first expectations. With phase 2 on its way, let's summarize and analyze the current state of classes.
↖ Cloth Wearers: Priests and Mages
- Priests: In terms of healers priests are dominating PvP mainly because they are efficient healers with unique dispel abilities. On the other hand, Shadow Priests have been underperforming in PvE but can be balanced accordingly in case they keep about it.
- Mages: Arcane Mages are doing well through their ability to AoE farm effectively. Fire Mages are surprisingly strong, while Frost Mages need significant improvements due to their weak spells.
↖ Leather Wearers: Rogues and Druids
- Rogues: It is quite surprising that rogues are performing very well both on PvE as well as PvP especially when using poison builds. Tank Rogues face challenges in dungeons with multiple mobs.
- Druids: Balance Druids are leveling easily due powerful spells like Star Surge. Restoration Druids are effective in PvE with Wild Growth, while Feral Druids are versatile either for PvE or PvP.
↖ Mail Wearers: Shamans and Hunters
- Shamans: Tank Shamans made it, but Elemental Shamans need to be improved. Enh Shaman are not good in DPS waiting for impactful runes in the coming phase.
- Hunters: They still remain very strong in PvP despite some nerfs. Pets especially Wind Serpents deal serious damage.
↖ Plate Wearers: Paladins and Warriors
- Paladins: Met expectations in all specs. Prot Paladins can tank, Ret is good for pvp, and Holy Pals suffice.
- Warriors: Very surprisingly leading in dps even without their key abilities. Tank warriors are good at raiding and PvP warriors do fine.
↖ The Dark Horse: Warlock
- Prediction: Strong in all areas.
- Result: Metamorphosis shines in PvP, Destruction leads in PvE. Shadowbolt builds underperform.
↖ Key Takeaways and Future Expectations
- Surprises: Fire Mage and Rogues outperforming, Frost Mage and Shadow Priest lagging.
- Upcoming Changes: Phase 2 could shake up the meta, especially with potential class balance changes.
- Personal Reflections: Some classes like Warlock and Hunter exceeded my expectations, while others like Frost Mage and Shadow Priest need a boost.
In conclusion, Season of Discovery has given us both anticipated outcomes as well as pleasant surprises regarding class performance. Stay tuned for more updates as we step into phase 2 to see how the meta will shape up!
