Diablo 4 Monster Items Drops Guide: Farming Strategy Based on Target Gear in Dungeons
Since the release of Diablo 4, many players have been farming gear incorrectly. While reaching level 100 is a significant achievement, many players have been focusing on hunting down specific legendary items and uniques to create their desired builds. One method that has been effective in farming nightmare dungeons or finding specific dungeons with a high concentration of elites for fast drops. However, what if I told you there's a more efficient way to farm gear and Diablo 4 gold by targeting specific enemy types?
Every enemy type in Diablo 4 has boosted drop chances for particular items. These enemies are about five times more likely to drop those items and Gold than any other enemy type. This information is crucial to farming for specific gear slots or unique items. You can optimise your farming strategy by understanding monster families and their loot drops.
Let's dive into the different enemy types and their enhanced drop rates:
↖ Bandits
Bandits have five times increased drop rate on daggers and one-handed maces. Hunting down bandits is crucial if you're after these weapon types, specifically for a Rogue build. Nightmare dungeons like Mallwood and Renegades Retreat are the best places to farm bandits for daggers and maces.
↖ Beasts
Beast enemies include tree enemies, bears, thorned beasts, charging boars, werewolves, and wards. They have a five times increased drop chance for chest pieces, crossbows, and one-handed swords. The Alderwood dungeon is the best location for farming beast enemies, as it is densely packed with these enemies. Nightmare dungeons like Farrell's Den and Whispering Pines are also viable options.
↖ Cannibals
Cannibals have an increased drop chance for two-handed axes, one-handed axes, and helmets. If you're after unique items like the Ancients Oath (two-handed axe) or Waxing Gibbous (Druid one-handed axe), focus on farming cannibals. The Earthen Wound nightmare dungeon is the best place to farm them.
↖ Cultists
Cultists have a five times increased drop rate for daggers and helmets. They are perfect for farming the Harlequin's Crest (Shaco) legendary helm. The Cultist Refuge dungeon in the Fractured Peaks is teeming with cultists and is the ideal farming location for helmets and daggers.
↖ Drowned
Drowned enemies have an increased drop chance for scythes (for necromancers), two-handed maces, pants, and boots. Unfortunately, they do not have a nightmare dungeon associated with them. To farm the drowned enemy type, you'll need to focus on overworld content or standard normal dungeons. Ruins of Air is the most densely packed location for drowned enemies.
By Diablo 4 targeting specific enemy types and farming in the appropriate nightmare dungeons or locations, you can significantly improve your chances of obtaining the gear you desire. Nightmare dungeons offer higher drop rates for ancestral gear (Tier 21 and above) and sacred gear (Tier 1 to 20). So, if you have access to nightmare dungeons, make sure to utilize them for efficient farming.
Remember to adapt your farming strategy based on your target gear slots. Each enemy type has different enhanced drop rates, so focus on the ones that align with your build and desired unique items. Good luck on your farming journey in Diablo 4!
