The suspension of the Russian association has failed at the 72nd Congress of the Football World Association FIFA in Doha. Although President Gianni Infantino intrusively raised peace and dialogue in his speech, there was no vote on an exclusion of Russia.

Under agenda item four ("suspension or exclusion of a member association"), only the existing suspensions of the associations of Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Kenya were extended instead.

"Please, please finish the conflicts, the wars, for our future and our children," said Infantino in his speech: "Looking for the dialogue with your worst enemy. The football will be there for you to be together for peace to work."

The Russian Association was led by Secretary-General Alexander Alaev with a group on site in the Katarian capital, also the flag was kept normal with those of other nations.

"If we have no opportunities to bring together people as on this congress, we can stop and go home," said Infantino the presence of the Russian delegation.

Already on Wednesday, the Council had confirmed the exclusion of Russian teams adopted by their competitions adopted in February due to the criminal war on Ukraine.

The Russian selection was therefore missing in the World Cup playoffs and will not be there at the World Cup from 21 November to 18 December.
