Farming content that you enjoy playing

The first tip for optimizing your farming experience is to make sure that you're farming content that you enjoy playing. Don't just farm something because it makes slightly more gold per hour, it'll just burn you out and lead to you making less gold in the long run. Find farms that you enjoy playing and that have good gold per hour potential. Switch it up if you get bored, there's plenty of options. 

 

Have an appropriate build

The next tip is to make sure that you have an appropriate build for the farm you're doing. For open-world farms, you'll want a weapon with skills that can quickly tag multiple targets at a time with a few thousand damage. Good options include a longbow on Ranger, a greatsword on Mesmer, a short bow on Thief, and many others. Some players also prefer to use gear with defensive stats when they're farming to make sure they can survive and tag more efficiently. 

 

Consumables and boosters to maximize your loot

You'll also want to make sure you're using consumables and boosters to maximize your loot. At a minimum, you'll want a guild boost from your guild hall's tavern, enrichment in your ascended amulet, and both food and enhancement items that boost your magic find. There are also other boosts like birthday boosters, heroic boosters, and guild banners that you can use if you have them. When using boosters, focus first on experience boosters, then on magic find boosters, and last on karma and gold boosters. 

 

Processing your loot

When processing your loot, always open unidentified gear before you salvage it and if you don't know what salvage kits to use, follow the system on screen. Refine all of the raw materials at a crafting station, as they'll generally be worth more after refining them. Hold on to materials that you'll need in the future so you don't have to spend gold buying them back. When you go to the trading post, list the items on the right side and don't instantly sell them. Common materials don't generally take very long to sell, and in the long run, you'll make significantly more gold than you would by instant selling. 

 

Value out of your wallet currencies. 

Spirit shards can be used in various crafting recipes and material promotions in Mystic Forge, which can make you gold from selling the result or save you GW2 gold when sourcing materials for your own needs. Unbound magic can be used to purchase magic, warped bundles, and volatile magic can be used to purchase trophies or leather shipments.

- GW2 Maps: Drizzlewood Coast

 

Requirements: 

• Chapters of Icebrood Saga unlocked (No Quarter and Jormag Rising) 
• Griffin or Sky Scale
• Wallet currencies

 

Steps:

• Complete events and escorts to take more territory. 
• Use map currency War Supplies to airdrop to areas with active events. 
• Defeat the meta bosses at Wolf's Crossing to receive chests. 
• Locate the orange boss skull icon and airdrop as close as possible. 
• Defeat the cash keepers to receive chests. 
• Repeat until all 10 cash keepers are defeated or time runs out. 
• Follow a commander to complete the chain of events on the north side of the map. 
• Defeat the boss at the end of the map to receive more chests. 
• Use wallet currencies and process loot correctly to maximize gold per hour.

Steps: 

• Speak to the NPC by the base camp waypoint and change your commendations to the most profitable legion. 
• Buy the small magic find boost and additional cash keys. 
• Complete the meta events on the south side of the map to progress the meta and get rewards.
• Open the chests at the end of the meta to get loot. 
• Buy account upgrades called empowerments and retributions from an NPC at the packed camp to increase your experience and karma gained. 
• Convert any volatile magic earned into gold through trophy and leather shipments 
• Craft legendaries with Carmina Spirit Shards for profit. 

 

- GW2 Maps: Dragonfall

 

Requirements: 

• Living World Season 4 
• Thermal Propulsion Mastery and Gliding Mastery track fully upgraded from Heart of Thorns 

 

Steps: 

• Escort to establish three camps in the different areas on the map. 
• Complete various events in those areas to level the camps up getting loot along the way. 
• Move on to a long boss fight which rewards you with a bunch of chests and then a champion train which will give you even more loot. 
• Open the chests at the end of the meta with mistborn keys. 
• Buy account upgrades called empowerments and retributions from an NPC at the packed camp. 
• Convert any volatile magic earned into gold through trophy and leather shipments. 
• Craft legendaries with Carmina Spirit Shards for profit. 

 

- GW2 Maps: Living World

 

Requirements: 

- Living World Season 4 Episodes 1-5 

 

Steps: 

• Complete the meta events in Domain of Istan, Sandswept Isles, Domain of Kourna, Jahai Bluffs and Thunderhead Peaks. 
• Complete bounties and other events to get additional loot. 
• Look out for legendary bosses to spawn the first time you defeat them to get a Central Tariya Mastery Point. 
• Kill bosses at each fort and then kill the Vine Wrath boss on the West side of the map. 
• Unlock three tiers of empowerment and retribution on the various maps to increase the amount of experience and karma that you receive. 
• Convert any volatile magic earned into gold through trophy and leather shipments. 
• Craft legendaries with Carmina Spirit Shards for profit. 

 

- GW2 Maps: Silverwaste

 

Requirements: 

- None 

 

Steps: 

• Run a counter-clockwise rotation and complete events around the red, indigo blue and then amber forts. 
• Look out for four different legendary bosses to spawn the first time you defeat them to get a Central Tariya Mastery Point. 
• Open the bags you receive on a lower level character to get lower level gear and materials that are actually more valuable. 
• Use silverwaste shovels to locate lost bandit chests and then open them up using bandit skeleton keys.
