Make Runescape Gold With Keys Open Chests
In RuneScape, players can come across Chests in various buildings and dungeons. These Chests are typically empty, but some may contain treasure trail clues or prizes. In order to access the prizes, players must unlock the Chests through the skill of Thieving. A comprehensive list of Chests that can be unlocked through Thieving can be found on the game's website. It's worth noting that some Chests may require a key to be opened. When it comes to making Gold in Runescape, opening chests using keys may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, in this guide, we'll compare the profit of different openable chests to determine which keys will make you the most Gold.
Muddy Chests
Muddy chests were released back in August 2001 and are located in the center of the lava maze. These chests can be opened using muddy keys. These chests used to give poor profits until the wilderness achievement set was released in 2016, which overhauled the loot. However, after the wilderness rework, monsters near the chest have become aggressive, which makes it harder to use the nearby banking NPC. This caused players to move south and use the NPC near the Neck Right Rocks or the Forgotten Cemetery instead.
To make Gold from muddy chests, you need to have a full inventory of muddy keys and a full Beast of Burden familiar with Gold keys. Simply spam opening the chests, but be aware of the Ripper Demons that reside next to the chest. These will attack you and their special attack can cause a lot of damage. The drop tables were not changed after the wellness rework when these demons were placed here, so essentially the method was nerfed a little.
Out of 250 muddy keys, the profit was 4.2 million in revenue, and a single patch, sold for 4,136k. However, this method is time-consuming, and there are better Gold makers in the game.
Crystal Chests
Crystal keys can open both the crystal chest and the chests in Taverley and Prifddinas. The drops that make you a profit may be slightly lower than the salvage you sometimes get, but you get far more Gold when you get the runes to drop, which is worth nearly 200k GP, and you see them quite often. The profit per key from the tablet chest is much higher than from the proof chest.
To make Gold from crystal keys, you can sell noted crystal keys to the shop, where you have a chance of losing one every few minutes or so. However, it is much faster because you don't need to bank. Fill out your inventory and go straight back to opening the keys. Doing this method will allow you to open over 2,000 keys per hour, which is incredibly fast compared to muddy keys.
Out of 250 crystal keys, the profit was much higher than muddy keys, with the loot table being a mix of different items, including herbs, runes, and weapons, which sold for a total of 29M GP.
Sinister Chests
Sinister chests were released in 2018 and can be opened using sinister keys. These chests are located in the Shifting Tombs minigame in Menaphos. The loot table includes different items, including a large number of Pharaoh's Sceptre pieces, which can be combined to make a Pharaoh's Sceptre. This sceptre can be sold for a high price in the Grand Exchange.
To make Gold from sinister chests, you need to have a full inventory of sinister keys and complete the Shifting Tombs minigame. However, this method can be very time-consuming and not recommended unless you enjoy playing the minigame.
Out of 250 sinister keys, the profit was much higher than muddy keys, with the loot table including a large number of Pharaoh's Sceptre pieces, which sold for a total of 81M GP.
Money Chests
These keys can be obtained from the Grand Exchange for a relatively cheap price. The loot from these keys is better than the Sinister keys, but still not as good as some of the other keys we'll discuss. However, they are still worth opening if you have some spare time and want to make a bit of profit.
Crystal Chests
These keys can be obtained by combining a loop half of a key and a tooth half of a key. The loot from these keys is the best of the keys we've discussed so far, but they are also the most expensive to obtain. It's recommended that you bring a beast of burden and upgrade your herb bag before opening these keys to maximize your profit.
Alchemist Chests
These keys were released as part of the Zekar Front update and can be obtained from the Grand Exchange. The loot from these keys is comparable to the Crystal keys, but they are significantly cheaper to obtain. It's recommended that you bring a full beast of burden to maximize your profit and efficiency when opening these keys.
