Build Mechanics
The Hexblast Miner Ascendant build centers around life stacking for scaling damage and berserk duration. Berserk provides a massive movement speed bonus, but we need a source of rage regeneration to use it. We achieve this through Comb Spirit, which translates life regeneration to rage. With high base life and sources of life regeneration and regeneration rate, we can achieve up to 25 rages per second in certain scenarios.
We scale additional movement speed through our boots with Gorilla Tactics and the Raider Ascendancy notable for the Onslaught. To achieve max frenzies, we use Grand Spectrum since we can't gain frenzy charges through Inner Conviction from Militant Faith.
We simultaneously scale damage with life using Wrathpith, Globe, and Dissolution of the Flesh, a tried and true combo for scaling spell damage and crit chance with life. We use a combination of Comb's Heart and a pseudo-7-link with the Essence of Hysteria mod to boost our damage further. We also use minimum frenzy charges through Grand Spectrums and Inner Conviction for Militant Faith as further multipliers for our damage choice.
Passive Skill Tree
The passive skill tree for this build is centered around life stacking to scale damage and berserk duration. The Saboteur's Tendency, notable for miners, provides high base life, while sources of life regeneration and regeneration rate provide high berserk uptime.
We also scale additional movement speed through our boots and use Gorilla Tactics and the Raider ascendancy notable for Onslaught to achieve max frenzies using Grand Spectrum.
Ascendancy
The Hexblast Miner Ascendant is built around the Saboteur and Raider Ascendancies, which provide powerful bonuses to movement speed, damage scaling, and berserk duration. Here is the recommended ascendancy order:
- Saboteur - Explosives Expert
- Raider - Way of the Poacher
- Saboteur - Demolitions Specialist
- Raider - Avatar of the Chase
Skill Gems
The primary skill gem for this build is Hexblast, which instantaneously hits curse targets regardless of position and has access to penetration, wither scaling, and freeze. We can double curse with Frostbite and Elemental Weakness, apply cold exposure from a relic to ensure freezes against all targets, and apply 15 wither stacks almost instantaneously using Bounds of Terror for one jewel and gem socket only.
We also use Mines for additional damage, with Hex plus Mines being very well suited for Sanctum and mapping. We use Molten Shell, 90k armour with Flask and Determination, and 19k evasion with Grace Divine Blessing and Flask for defence.
Other important skill gems include Blasphemy for curse immunity, Swift Assembly for clearing maps, and Minefield for highly effective mine damage. We also use a 7-link helmet with Comb's Heart and a pseudo-7-link with the Essence of Hysteria mod to further boost damage.
Gear
The gear requirements for this build are relatively high but can be adjusted to suit a lower-budget version. We use Wrathpith Globe and Dissolution of the Flesh for scaling spell damage and crit chance with life and Comb Spirit to translate life regeneration to rage. We also use Pain Attunement since we're constantly at one HP.
For damage scaling, we use a combination of Grand Spectrums and Inner Conviction for Militant Faith as further multipliers for our choice of damage. We use minimum frenzy charges through Grand Spectrums and Inner Conviction to achieve max frenzies. We also use a 7-link helmet for the Essence mod and spell crit mod, which doesn't have mono multipliers, allowing us to run a 5-link in mono cost-effectively.
We use a corrupted Lori's Lantern for bleed immunity, and movement speed and an Abyssule for low-life corrupted blood immunity for defence. We reduce ignite duration to 23 using Soul of Aberath and Solipsism on a relic since we can't have an energy shield due to Dissolution of the Flesh. We also trade off evasion or armour on the flask to achieve poison immunity.
Conclusion:
The Hexblast Miner Ascendant is a powerful build that excels in mapping and bossing. It requires relatively high gear but it can be adjusted to suit your POE Currency budget. The build mechanics are unique and interesting, with life stacking for damage and berserk duration, Comb Spirit to translate life regeneration to rage, and Hexblast for instantaneously hitting curse targets regardless of position. This build is great for players looking for a fast, powerful miner build.
