Path of Exile 2 Ascendancy Guide: Exploring New Possibilities
- Path of Exile
In Path of Exile, ascendancies are powerful character classes that drastically change gameplay and provide unique build options. With the upcoming Path of Exile 2 update, players can look forward to 19 new ascendancies, doubling the available archetypes. While only seven have been revealed so far, they offer exciting possibilities for character customization and playstyles. In this guide, we'll delve into the known ascendancies and discuss what they bring to the table in Path of Exile 2.
↖ Ascendancy Overview
Ascendancies are accessed by completing the Lord's Labyrinth, a challenging gauntlet of traps, monsters, and a three-phase boss called Emperor Izaro. In Path of Exile 2, players can ascend their characters after completing the third act of the game. Further ascensions can be achieved by enchanting boots, gauntlets, and helmets in higher levels of the lab. Each character class, except the Scion, has three unique ascendancies, while the Scion can mix and match various ascendancy classes in her single ascendancy tree.
↖ The Beastmaster
One of the newly revealed ascendancies is The Beastmaster, available for the Ranger class. The Beastmaster focuses on shape-shifting abilities and provides exclusive access to the werecat form. This ascendancy allows seamless transitioning between werewolf, werebear, wherecat, and human forms, retaining buffs from previous forms. The Beastmaster also offers a specialized companion cat minion that provides tailored buffs to your character.
↖ The Survivalist
Also available for the Ranger, The Survivalist is an advanced ascendancy focused on game-changing skills. It introduces new mechanics such as adding entire skill gems to your weapon, spell avoidance for enhanced defense, and the ability to multiply projectiles over time. The Survivalist's skill tree is split between offense and defense, providing versatility in combat.
↖ The Tactician
The Tactician is another ascendancy for the Ranger and is dedicated to tactical strikes, supercharged totems, and enemy control. This ascendancy introduces the concept of changing bows into pseudo-melee weapons, allowing the use of melee skills with bows. Additionally, the Tactician offers new skill gems that can be socketed into specific items to enhance ranged attacks. The ascendancy tree provides options for ranged battlefield commanding and empowering the last summoned totem.
↖ Unrevealed Ascendancies
While only three ascendancies for the Ranger have been revealed in detail, four others remain shrouded in mystery. These include The Reaver and The Ancestor for the Marauder class and The Defiler and The Arcanist for the Witch class. These ascendancies are likely to bring unique playstyles and new mechanics to the game, with the potential to reshape the existing meta.
With the upcoming Path of Exile 2 update, players can expect an expanded roster of 19 new ascendancies, doubling the existing options. The revealed ascendancies, such as The Beastmaster, The Survivalist, and The Tactician, showcase the game's commitment to providing diverse and powerful character customization. Alongside the existing 19 ascendancies from Path of Exile 1, these new additions will offer a multitude of playstyles, build options, and exciting interactions. Prepare to embark on a new journey in Path of Exile 2 and explore the boundless possibilities of the ascendancy system.
