Fellow Exiles, brace yourselves because Path of Exile 1 is here to stay and it's not going anywhere anytime soon! With plenty of brand-new expansions incoming, including the highly anticipated Trial of the Ancestors, PoE is set to remain the premier ARPG for the foreseeable future. The Trial of the Ancestors is the primary league mechanic of 3.22 and brings a drastically different feel from the current Crucible league. As someone who hasn't played many Auto Battler games, I'm super excited for this league to arrive:

PoE 3.22 Trial of the Ancestors Release Date

With the Trial of the Ancestors challenge league, new Atlas keystones, Ascendancy reworks, support gems, and the return of The Forbidden Sanctum, Path of Exile 3.22 is shaping up to be an expansion that will keep players immersed in the world of Wraeclast. Trial of the Ancestors: A New Take on Auto Battlers

In a bold move, Path of Exile is diving into the Auto Battler genre with the Trial of the Ancestors league. It's a tournament between various tribes and the Kurui Afterlife, overseen by the goddess of the underworld and death, Inakora. To participate in the tournament, players use silver coins found throughout the world and work with Navali to enter the afterlife. Once there, they construct their own tribe to battle other tribes and secure gifts from Inakora. The goal is to defeat all the other warriors and their totems before they do the same to your tribe. This new league adds a fresh and exciting layer of gameplay to the PoE experience.

Powerful New Rewards: Tattoos, Omens, and Kunicore's Lock

The Trial of the Ancestors league comes with a host of powerful rewards split into three categories: Tattoos, Omens, and Kunicore's Lock. Tattoos are items that can be used on the attribute nodes of your passive skill tree, granting various bonuses. From adding fire resistance to increasing mana reservation efficiency, these tattoos promise to enhance your build in exciting ways. Omens are consumable items rewarded to winners of ancestor tournaments and provide various effects upon specific triggers. Kunicore's Lock, the pinnacle reward, allows you to preview the outcome of an item crafting before committing to it, making it highly sought after for high-end crafters and treasure hunters.

Tattoos: Transforming Passive Tree Nodes

One of the new mechanics is tattoos that transform certain passive tree nodes. These tattoos vary in power, with some granting attributes and others providing more significant bonuses. The Honor Tattoo of the Wise Man, for example, transforms a 30 intelligence node into one that grants +1 to the level of all intelligence skill gems, offering a substantial power boost.

Omens: Single-Use Triggered Items

Omens are single-use triggered items with various effects. The Omen of Return is a cast-on-death portal, while the Omen of Refreshment instantly refills all your flasks upon falling to 25% life or below. The Omen of Fortune allows you to Turbo Charge an orb of a chance to guarantee a unique item.

Hinakora's Lock: The New Eternal Orb?

The most exciting addition might be Hinakora's Lock, a powerful currency item with Save State-like properties. By applying it to an item, you can foresee the outcome of a Poe currency orb, allowing you to modify the item with confidence. However, it's uncertain whether modifying the item removes the ability to foresee or if you can reapply Hinakora's Lock. Its permanence and interactions with Val Orbs are also ambiguous, but it is likely to be a highly sought-after and valuable item.

Unique Items and Potential Impact

Some unique items have been revealed, such as Bound Fate, an RNG-heavy belt, and Gutar's Hunger, a chest piece with potential power comparable to the Legacy version of Kaom's Heart, but with its own drawbacks. While these items may not seem particularly exciting, we can expect more impactful uniques to be revealed in the future.

The Forbidden Sanctum Returns

For all the new players, the Forbidden Sanctum awaits, offering a roguelite experience in Path of Exile. Players can tackle a unique dungeon with four floors and four challenging boss encounters. This content, coupled with the Atlas endgame update, delving in the Azurite Mine, heists, and pilfering relics in the Forbidden Sanctum, forms a solid quartet of unique late-game systems to push your character to new heights.

16 New Keystone Nodes and Support Gems

The 3.22 expansion introduces 16 new Keystone nodes to the Atlas passive skill tree, many of which are wicked keystones. The Maven can now add additional bosses to any encounter she witnesses, and Kirac will offer any map mod regardless of his current pool. Furthermore, 16 brand new support gems make their way into the game, catering to different playstyles and adding more diversity to character builds.

Ascendancy Class Reworks: Guardian and Chieftain

As part of the expansion, the Guardian, a Templar ascendancy class, receives a rework focused on summons, links, and Heralds. The Chieftain, a Marauder ascendancy class, specializes in slams, fire-based damage and mitigation, and buffing totems. These reworks bring exciting new possibilities for character builds, and discussions on the Path of Exile subreddit provide valuable insights into maximizing their potential.

Grinding Gear Games Launch Event

Grinding Gear Games is hosting a launch event with a hardcore solo self-found race to defeat the seven Uber Pinnacle bosses. If you think you're up for the challenge, this is your chance to showcase your skills and win great rewards.

Path of Exile 3.22: Trial of the Ancestors is shaping up to be an incredibly promising expansion with unique gameplay mechanics, powerful rewards, and exciting endgame content. Whether you're a seasoned player or a new Exile, the upcoming expansion offers something for everyone. Get ready to dive into the action on August 18th and embark on an unforgettable journey in the world of Wraeclast!
