Last Epoch 0.9.1 Updates: Monolith, Skills, Lootfilters, MTX, and More!

Last Epoch, an action RPG game, is set to release its 0.91 version on May 25th, 2023. In a recent developer chat, the senior developer, Mike, discussed some teasers about what to expect in the upcoming version. This guide article will provide a summary of the major points covered in the dev chat.

Last Epoch 0.9.1 Updates: Monolith, Skills, Lootfilters, MTX, and More!

Monolith

One of the questions asked by the community was whether there would be any updates coming to the Monolith. Mike confirmed that there were some model changes happening, although they were not groundbreaking or paradigm-altering. He had previously teased some of these changes on past streams. However, he did not provide any further details.

Another question that was asked was whether there would be a gambling system for Monoliths. The suggestion was to sacrifice a piece of gear to increase the difficulty and get better rewards. Mike was unsure of what the player had in mind, but he confirmed that there was something in the works for the progression curve on skills and how that would unlock and progress into the end game.

Skills

Mike teased that there were plans to smooth out the progression for skills beyond level 20. Judd had mentioned in his interview that he felt there was a plateau once skills maxed out at level 20. Mike confirmed that there was something in the works to alter the progression curve on skills, but he did not provide any specific details.

Lootfilters

Mike confirmed that there were some minor changes happening to the loot filters. He mentioned that there was room for expansion of the rule sets in the filter. Although there were certain things intentionally excluded from the loot filter, there was a good chance that they would expand it in some way, including the possibility of making legendary potential searchable.

Auto Pickup

One of the questions asked by the community was about the possibility of having an auto-pickup feature for materials and other items. Mike stated that they have had debates about this feature every few months, usually on the heels of a large swell of player base growth. However, the team believes that it is important for the feel of the game loop to have enemies fairly frequently drop items that players actively pick up.

The team has made some small changes to the system that they hope will make it feel better to use. For example, they plan to have materials drop less frequently but in larger groups on average. They are also planning to add more of a sink for shards if players do not want them.

MTX

Mike revealed that the team is planning to add a new MTX in the next patch, which is set to release on May 25th. However, there is a bug that prevents the Last Epoch Currency from updating immediately after purchasing it. Mike expressed his frustration about this bug, but he assured the community that the team is working on fixing it. He also teased an upcoming video series called "Last Epoch Fashion Show," where he will showcase the new MTX on different character classes.

Boss Update

Mike confirmed that at least one campaign boss is getting a complete and massive rework in every way. This will make the boss more challenging and do more damage, which will give players a more satisfying experience.

Teaser

Mike teased that there will be upcoming skills or unique items that will reward odd combinations of exalted items that are otherwise bad together. This will encourage players to experiment with different builds and create something unique and useful.

New Skill

Mike confirmed that the Primevalist's Ice Thorns skill would be going away, and a new skill would replace it. However, he did not reveal the name of the new skill in the dev stream. He did mention that the new skill will replace Tempest Strike and Ice Thorns simultaneously, and there will be a shuffle happening with other skills as well.

Conclusion:

Last Epoch's 0.91 version is set to release on May 25th, 2023, and the senior developer, Mike, has shared some exciting teasers about what players can expect. The Monolith will have some model changes, and there are plans to alter the progression curve on skills beyond level 20. The loot filters will undergo some minor changes, and the team is planning to add a new MTX.

Additionally, a campaign boss is getting a complete rework, and there will be upcoming skills or unique items that will reward odd combinations of exalted items. The Primevalist's Ice Thorns skill will be replaced with a new skill, and there will be a shuffle happening with other skills as well. The team is continuously working to improve the game, and players can look forward to a more challenging and satisfying experience.
